WOT (Web of Trust)

Postby evilfantasy » Tue Dec 30, 2008 6:25 pm

:spbx:

I have abandonded SiteAdvisor for WOT - Web of Trust.

The last SA update was horrible and upon testing WOT I found it to be a much better system. If the site is on the hpHosts bad web site list it's also added to WOT.

Here is a good example and I can show many more that are the same. Look at the SA rating for the well known malware xpantispyware-2009.com. It's green for goodness sake!

WOT has it correct. xpantispyware-2009.com | WOT Security Scorecard

I use SiteHound and SA, but I agree this last update is nasty. They added a resource hogging service that won't stay shut off. They have always been off on ratings. It went to hell as soon as McAfee got their hands on it. I beta tested it and the original crew were good, but they did as so many do and sold it to a larger entity with the $ to market it.

Yea there were 3 or 4 new entries in my HJT log after the last SA update. One or two BHO's, a 018 and an 023 entry. Way too much for what it is!

If you haven't yet you should give WOT a try. I think you'll like it ;)

I really like SiteHound, and it too uses the HPhosts DB for site blocking. I get a free full license every year because I'm listed as an expert at MRU. :rotf: Oh yeah Google will index that. The only reason I run two is to see how crappy SA is. LOL or on the rare occasion SH doesn't have a site tagged that SA does.
