Windows Live Hotmail and the new Windows Live Mail

Postby W3FSY » Wed Mar 26, 2008 6:02 pm

:? I thought I would pass along an experience of mine with email problems. My 10 mb Webmail mailbox with my ISP gets loaded down with the 30-40 emails I receive daily, so in the past I went with a "Free" Hotmail account that has now gone to a Windows Live Hotmail account with a 5 Gb mailbox on the web. I get some 5-8 mb (pps and wmv) emails and had a need for a larger mailbox. Last week as you may have heard, Hotmail accounts had serious problems and when you would forward or reply to an email you would end up with text missing and only the picture or else there would not be room to type a reply only to find out it was very small type. Those were just a few of the problems encountered. I kept reading posts on some of the MSN Group (Computer Help sites) and it appeared like the only answer to the problem was to download and install Windows Live Mail. This is going to be the replacement for Outlook Express down along the line, so I've read.

I have two other user accounts on this Windows XP SP2 Home Computer and they do not have Hotmail Accounts and rely on Outlook Express for their POP 3 emails. It was a concern of mine as I could not find information as to if I could use Windows Live Mail on my user account and not on their accounts. With Windows Live Mail, you are able to put all your mail (ISP - POP 3) emails, Hotmail (from the web), Gmail and other accounts together and use Windows Live Mail to check all your emails and use the program to reply to any of the emails. This was the answer for me with the problems Windows Live Hotmail had, so yesterday, I downloaded and installed it. I had to get a few new High Priority Window Updates to complete my installation. I find the program to be the greatest and it has all kind of bells and whistles (more than Outlook Express). Forwarding "Hotmail" emails now is no chore and they are much more easier to clean up. It is quite easy to add other email accounts later down along the line.

8) I would give the program an "A+".

Hmm strange. I use WL Hotmail not the full version because it is just so damn slow i hate it. Just the regular Live Hotmail and have never installed anything. I don't use Outlook at all. Never have. :rotf: This is interesting Ron. Thanks.

Hi W3FSY you are quite right,
have been using WL Mail for about 6 months now and it is really very good.
The only problem is that yahoo (free) accounts do not work with it, except if Ypops is also used

Permission was granted to me by Dimension (An Asst. Mgr. of another Help Site) to post his link explaining the differences in some of the Window Live programs with some Tutorials on how to do installations as I thought they could be helpful in that they are very explanatory. So all credit is to his endeavors and tutorials in explaining the differences in the MS "Window Live programs".

I found this article very helpful in understanding all the "Live" programs floating around today.
