8)
Well, I made the move this morning and went to the FREE Avast (Home Edition)
version 4.8.1169

I've been using Computer Associates eTrust Antivirus for 4-5 years and just read yesterday that CA has gone with McAfee as a partner and have dropped eTrust as a partner. There are some users of eTrust being offered a "Suite Combination" for a year and I didn't want to pay a fortune every year for protection with FREE AV programs being available for use.

I looked at Avast and it seemed to be what I wanted in an AV program. It was a toss up between Avast and Avira (No POP 3 email scanning) and Avast seemed to offer more features. I doubt if I'll be disappointed although it will be hard to get used to the difference in appearance. At least I will have automatic updates as rumor was that updates were going to end with eTrust AV being partners with McAfee.

I've actually recently moved from Avast to Avira because of;

1. Annoying vocal and graphical "notifications"
2. Rubbish detections

I will miss the mail scanning, but was only using Avast, and am only using Avira .... until I can afford a licence for NOD32 :)

Avast Anti Virus Program Update 4.8.1282 has just become available. You can obtain the update by right-clicking on the "a" icon in your taskbar and selecting "Updating" and then "Program Update".

There is no need to uninstall version 4.8.1229 to update.

It is necessary to re-start your computer after installing the program update.

I hope this fixes the false positive they were giving against MBAM.
