Questions about Flash Players

Postby grits » Fri Oct 10, 2008 2:18 pm

I guess my main question is "do I really need one"? I don't do games & don't click on video links in emails. I read the newspaper & check
Now,the reason I'm asking: did the Secunia Scan this morning & it showed a warning about an insecure Macromedia Flash, so have been investigating since & have found that it's Not in my Add/Remove but there is an Adobe Flash there. I further found an UNinstaller for Flash but haven't downloaded it cuz I don't know if it removes all or just the insecure, hence my main question.
And while I'm at it, why is there both Macromedia & Adobe? It seems I saw somewhere that they're one & the same? Why 2 different names?

just a dummy,

Some websites use flash and without it you won't see the content. Flash has been used to exploit systems, many recommend disabling it altogether. Macromedia is a division of Adobe is the best I can do to explain why both exist. LOL If you update it there is less risk of it getting you infected.

Is it as cold in Helena as it is in Livingston? Freezin my A$$ off here.
