Uninstalling Daemon Tools

Uninstalling Daemon Tools

A few years back I installed the program just to test if it was interfering with DVD burning programs like Nero and Imgburn. After the tests I uninstalled it. No games or anything else was installed.

A couple of years later I finally removed the spdt file that stalled safe mode boot, last night I ran a rootkit scan just to test as part of my antimalware work.

After a lot of googling I linked this to daemon tools and found an uninstaller

Interesting. I've never seen StarForce entries unless they were installed by a game. I guess it was something in Daemon Tools used to emulate the DRM in some games so it could successfully use iso's of those games. It's also possible that it doesn't exist in the current version of Daemon Tools, as the only time I've seen anything StarForce on my Vista x64 rig was when I installed a game that had it, which didn't allow Vista to boot at all so I had to use MS D.a.R.T. to delete the offensive unsigned drivers manually, then update to the new version of their DRM crapola to boot and play the game (which I later got bored of and removed, along with all it's DRM badness).

You can take the fact that I didn't install any game to the bank and cash that check and now I have to find that damn sptd key in the registry

Wouldn't a reg cleaner find an invalid key? I use EasyCleaner http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ You probably know this, but DO NOT use the duplicate file remover without knowing some Windows files are supposed to be duplicates. It's worth the warning IMO to avoid what I did as a noob. LOL the only fix was a reinstall. He might have even fixed the way duplicates are found... I just don't use it.

To get rid of the SPDT key you should be able to just use Autoruns, just use delete instead of disable.
